Bondora has reached the milestone of over 200,000 investors with an investment total of more than €600m (£513m).
In May the European peer-to-peer lending platform welcomed 2,245 new investors, down slightly from 2,694 in April. Last month, more than €15m was invested in Bondora and investors have earned over €75m to date in returns.
Loan originations dropped by 0.5 per cent to €15.6m, mainly because of a 9.7 per cent fall in Finnish loan originations, totalling €8.5m. The largest rise came from Spain (31.7 per cent) where €827,001 was originated, followed by Estonia (11.3 per cent), with €6.3m.
Despite their decline, Finland still has the majority of originations with 54.3 per cent, but this was followed by Estonia with 40.4 per cent.

Bondora’s secondary market activity increased in May for the first time since March.
It grew by 21.5 per cent to a total of €182,665 transacted, thanks to all categories increasing.
Portfolio manager secondary market activity saw the largest rise with 87.3 per cent, followed by API transactions (24.1 per cent) and manual transactions with 12.3 per cent, although these still account for the largest percentage of all transactions (49.3 per cent).

In May, the cash recovered by Bondora increased by 174.6 per cent to €2.2m, while the number of recovered loans dropped by 3.7 per cent to 76,359.
Estonia was home to the majority of cash recoveries (€1.6m) and the highest number of recovered loans (44.3 per cent).
